Site GS1 and 2: Goleta Slough
at the Bicycle Bridge

GS1 and GS2, Goleta Slough at the bicycle bridge have just been added to the sampling program (Oct. 2004). The location can be reached by following Fairview Ave. south, around the airport, until just below the entrance ramp to Hwy. 217. At this point the side-of-the-road bicycle path (along Moffett Place) diverges to the right to cross the slough on its own bridge. This location is near the mouth of the slough but upstream of San Pedro, San Jose and Atascadero creeks.

The slough here is wide and tidally influenced and we sample along the bridge with a bucket at two locations: at the third points, with GS1 nearer the ocean and GS2 closer to the airport.
