Site 11: Santa Ana
This site is located in the Ventura River at the Santa
Ana Road bridge. All cars are parked on the side of this road. Walking
down rip rap provides access to the site. The channel is approximately
100 yards in length. However, the stream usually only occupies a quarter
of that length. Rocks, ranging from cobble stones to boulders, are abundant
at this site. They are placed here for flood control. Native vegetation
is moderately dispersed. Non-native vegetation, specifically Arundo, is
present. A storm drain is also present at this site. The river flow goes
below ground just downstream from this sample site. This site is often
dry for much of the year.
