Site 3: Shell Road
This site is located in the Ventura River at the Shell
Road bridge. Park before the bridge at a dirt turnout, then walk across
the bridge. The site is then accessed by carefully climbing down the
rip rap on the south side of the bridge to reach the water. The site
is a mix of large boulders and large sections of pipe. There is some
native vegetation growing amongst the boulders. This site is home to
many birds, including herons, egrets and coots. The channel of flowing
water is located on the west side of the river basin. At this site the
basin is about forty yards across.
