Site 6: Foster Park

This site is located along the Ventura River, just downstream from Foster Park at the Casitas Vista Drive bridge. Cars are parked immediately after the Ventura River bridge is crossed, on a small ranch road on the left. The access side of the river is very steeply sloped while the opposite bank is gently sloped. A VCFC flood gauge is present at the site. To access the site, one must climb down the bank or use a 20 foot metal ladder that was installed for flood gauge monitoring. Native vegetation is moderately dispersed in the streambed and stream bank. Thickets of Arundo line the bank and center of the riverbed. The width of the channel is approximately 100 yards. This area is often choked with algae during the dry months.
