Site 7: San Antonio Creek

This site, a major tributary to the Ventura River, represents the combined drainages of the Ojai Valley. We access the creek on Old Creek Road, just off of Highway 33. San Antonio Creek flows over a segment of the road, which often causes flooding. Cars are parked just before the creek at the side of the road, next to Rancho Arnaz. The site is accessed easily by walking approximately ten yards to the stream. VCFC has a flood gauge downstream approx. 400 meters at the highway bridge. Surrounding land use includes housing and livestock grazing. Upstream uses include horse stables, ranching and grazing, and the urban area of Ojai. Dense vegetation is found at San Antonio Creek, including Arundo.
